Fifteen years after surviving a violent police evidence depository robbery—an event he turned into a best-selling book—Meechum is struggling with severe writer's block following his wife's death. He is approached by Cleve, a suave but psychotic hitman who wants Meechum to write his biography. Cleve’s motive is revenge: he wants to expose his former employer, corporate magnate David Madlock ( Paul Shenar ), who has since built a "legitimate" business empire on the bodies of Cleve's targets.
