: Writer Romain Gary and his wife, actress and activist Jean Seberg, adopt an abandoned German Shepherd. They soon discover the dog has been trained as a "white dog"—an animal conditioned to attack Black people on sight. Gary, an animal lover, refuses to euthanize the dog and instead seeks out a Black trainer, Keys, to see if the animal's hatred can be "unlearned".
