Eraserhead (1977) Review

David Lynch’s feature-length debut, Eraserhead (1977), is a seminal work of surrealist body horror that remains one of cinema's most potent "midnight movies". Shot in stark black and white with a haunting industrial soundscape, it follows Henry Spencer—a nervous man with a gravity-defying hairdo—as he navigates the anxieties of accidental fatherhood and domestic entrapment in a decaying industrial wasteland.

The narrative centers on Henry (Jack Nance), who is invited to a bizarre dinner with his girlfriend, Mary X, and her eccentric parents. During the meal, which features tiny "man-made" chickens that bleed and move, Henry learns that Mary is pregnant. The "baby" that arrives is a grossly deformed, bandage-wrapped creature with a constant, high-pitched cry that eventually drives Mary away, leaving Henry alone to care for it. As Henry’s sanity fractures, his world dissolves into a series of increasingly disturbing hallucinations involving a seductive neighbor and the "Lady in the Radiator". Can anyone explain the meaning of the movie Eraserhead? Eraserhead (1977)
