While in the hospital for anemia, Dong-eun meets Joo Yeo-jeong , a medical intern. He becomes fascinated by her and eventually teaches her the game of Go , which serves as a metaphor for her strategic battle to take over her enemies' territory.
Dong-eun moves into an apartment in Semyeong that directly overlooks Yeon-jin’s house, literally positioning herself to watch over her enemy's life. The Real-Life Inspiration
While digging through trash for intel, Dong-eun is caught by Kang Hyeon-nam , a housekeeper. Instead of reporting her, Hyeon-nam—a victim of domestic abuse herself—strikes a deal: she will help Dong-eun gather intelligence if Dong-eun helps her "kill" her abusive husband.
The series is partly inspired by a horrifying in Cheongju, South Korea. A middle school girl was extorted and physically tortured by her classmates for a month, including being burned with a hair straightener—a detail depicted vividly in the show's early flashbacks to illustrate the severity of the trauma fueling Dong-eun’s rage.
